DIY Hat!

Hello Friends!

I got invited to a tea party at sis house tomorrow, and the criteria is to wear a dress and a hat.

I'm a simple girl. I don't wear fancy hats nor I own hats other than baseball caps.

I decided that life is too short, and want to have some fun, so I ended up purchasing a plain old sun hat from Old Navy.

The hat is plain, and today was the day to play in the stamp room. I have a lot of retired accessories that I hoard, and it time to use them up. My challenge today, is ways to use them.

I have this roll of burlap ribbon which I absolutely love! To create the roses, you will need pull a thread from the bottom to create the "gathered" look. Once you have decided on your length, use a hot glue gun and as you roll the flowers, add glue on the edges. Don't make the flowers too tight otherwise it does not look nature. Creating the larger flower, you will need a longer piece of burlap, and to create a smaller flower, you need a shorter piece of burlap.

When creating I always use odd numbers, such as 1, 3, 5. I typically use 1 or 3 depending on what I am making. The reason behind using odd numbers is more pleasing to the eyes and it gives a balance. In this case, I wanted a large burlap rose and two smaller rosettes and each side.

For the leaves, I used retired green ribbon and just tuck them under the roses. All of the roses are secured with a hot glue gun.

I hope you enjoyed this project. The burlap ribbon is retiring soon (May 30), so be sure to get some.
