CCDT September Blog Hop "Upright Piano"

Welcome to the
Creative Circle Design Team blog hop!
This is a long post, so grab a cup of coffee, sit back & relax!
This month's hop is one of my signature 3D designs. It is an "Upright Piano" design!

It is designed to hold A2 cards and envelopes in the string compartment box.

The piano has a hinge cover that opens and closes to reveal the keyboard. The hinge cover is held with mini magnets to give some interactive fun, which can be left closed or opened. I showed two of the same picture without moving them to show you the cover.

Who doesn't want an Upright Piano to display! It is a perfect signature piece for any piano teachers or anyone who plays keyboard instrument. Size of the 3D Upright Piano measures 5-1/2 (w) x 3-3/4 (d) x 4" (h).

Did you know that this can coordinate with all the music sheets, background stamps and musical dies we have in the 2017 Holiday catalog? If you haven't seen it, shoot me an email.

I actually made two pianos because I am soooo in love with this piece. I wanted to show you how it can hold coordinating cards and/or as a display.

Piano 1: Is made from basic black cs and whisper white cs. When I think of music, I think black & white because of the music sheets.

I made "Thank You" cards to insert inside the Piano. It actually holds 5 cards and 5 envelopes. I used the music sheet DP as my background.

For the music bars, I stepped outside the box to show you that you can use the You Move Me thinlits dies. You will need 6 lines, but before you trim away, add two end bars to hold the lines together.

Add a treble clef on the left side from the musical instruments framelits. We didn't have any current "thank you", so I made myself a SVG file to cut with my e-cutter.

I gave away this piece to a special piano instructor. She is not my piano instructor but my workout trainer at the gym. I got to know her since I started going to the gym in March, 2017 and she is an awesome instructor. I wanted to show her my appreciation and getting me back into shape.

Piano 2: I turned my piano template to hold a small flowering box. I can't tell how beautiful this piece is using the Orchid Builder Bundles. It is so realistic and sitting on top of my piano.
The base is made from Tangerine Tango cs to create a terracotta look, and stamped all the covers using Hardwood stamp in Sahara Sand ink. To create a more vintage like - the edges are then sponged with Sahara Sand ink.
The holder has a white foam board that can be purchased at your local craft store. The foam board sits inside the box to raise the depth, and to hold my flowers in place. The base is then covered with sphagnum moss. As I love orchids, I created an orchid display for my piece which sits on top of my piano.
The stem is made from large gauge wire that is wrapped in green floral tape. I also cut small stem nodes to attach to the stem. The orchid flowers do not lay flat on the wire but on the nodes.

After stamping and die cutting the orchids, I sponged the edges with Rich Razzleberry and assemble the pieces together.

The leaves in the stamp set are not the leaves you see in the phalaenopsis orchids.
So I hand cut to create the rich bold green, and sponge the edges with Always Artichoke.
